Ginuwine “When Doves Cry”
Timbaland is one of the most visionary producers of the last 25 years and this wasn’t a bad look for Ginuwine at the time, but this cover has always been an odd production. Combining Ginuwine’s sleazy gigolo vibe with Timbaland’s signature percussive funk made for some of the late 90’s best records, but it only made “When Doves Cry” sound stale and uninspired. Sometimes you have to play it safe with the classics. Another example of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
