Model and designer Joanne Borgella, 32, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17 after a yearlong battle with cancer.

The “American Idol” (2008) contestant, who was part of Wyclef Jean’s New Jersey-based ‘talent collaborative Bugga Basement, is widely known for her appearance on Curvy Girls. Borgella was also a plus-sized designer and her limited edition clothing line JBNY – (Joanne Borgella New York) comprised of the Curvy Chique, Summer U Dress, The MIDI Dress and The Wrap Dress collection – was made specifically for plus-sized women who found it difficult to find fashionable clothing.

“As a plus model I know what’s lacking through my experience in modeling plus brands and I want to offer that to my #CurvyLovz,” she shares on her website.
