‘Holiday Feast With Kelis’ set to air on the Cooking Channel
R&B singer Kelis is set to showcase her cooking skills for the holiday. According to reports, Kelis Rogers is dropping her mic for a set of oven mitts as she schools eager viewers in the art of making pernil; a traditional Puerto Rican roasted pork dish consisting of pineapple-saffron turkey, chorizo stuffing garnished with dates, and a carrot and yam souffle on the side. A delicious dish fit for any dinner party!
Rogers, a Le Cordon Bleu-certified chef and saucier, tells the NY Daily News, “My mom had a catering business growing up, so I fell in love with cooking early on. We’d make everything from couscous to Swedish meatballs.”
Rogers, who refers to cooking as her “happy place,” was so inspired by her mother’s culinary career, that she plans on dropping a cookbook next fall.
