Comedian Chris Rock is making waves in the media after taking a dig at Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
While at a recent screening for his new film, Top Five, Rock called Roethlisberger “‘the original Cosby” in reference to rape allegations levied against the star football player that many felt were swept under the rug because of his star status.
“That’s horrible,” Rock said immediately after realizing his remark would probably go viral. “That’s gonna go everywhere.”
In 2008 the 6-foot-5 240-pound Roethlisberger was sued by a woman named Andrea McNulty, who claimed that he tricked her into coming to his hotel room before forcibly having sex with her. All parties involved agreed to drop the suit in December of 2011. Prior to that suit being dropped, in 2010, Roethlisberger was again accused of sexual misconduct. This time he was alleged to have raped a woman in the bathroom of a Georgia bar. The prosecutor in that case opted to not file criminal charges.
Roethlisberger was suspended for six games without pay for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy but the suspension was ultimately reduced to four games.
