Being a successful star in Hollywood typically requires one to sacrifice in their personal life, and like several other women before her, Gabrielle Union is hearing her maternal clock screaming at her as she inches closer to being too old to conceive. And in a new interview with Uptown magazine, she opens up about her desire for children and how she handles life as a celeb.
In her interview, Union, who is a stepmother to her husband Dwyane Wade’s kids, says that she really wants to have a baby of her own. However, the 42-year-old actress admits she may have waited too long to conceive a child.
“I think my brain and my heart are screaming baby fever. My ovaries, however, they’re coughing up dust. Yes, it’s in my heart and in my mind, and we’ll see if my body catches up with that,” Union shared.
Union explains that she hasn’t frozen her eggs but she is weighing her options between trying to have a child of her own or adopt one. However, she explains that she’s already happy being a stepmom.
“I have really awesome stepkids, so I feel equally as fulfilled. I’ve lasted 42 years without having a human being come from one of my orifices and I feel okay and fulfilled and happy. If it does happen, it’s a miracle — a medical miracle at least. I mean, we’d love to. We’ll see what my ovaries say. Cause right now they’re taking Geritol,” Union said.
Well, only time will tell what happens with Union and her ovaries, but it does seem like life is already good for the star.
