Now that the year is coming to a close, we can look back on the wide array of midsize vehicles that have have been on the market, and see which ones came out on top. With dozens upon dozens of options to look at when deciding what we were going to make our on-the-road fashion statement with; it’s quite apparent now that a specific group of cars are the object of our desires.
Let’s take a look in no particular order.
- Nissan Altima: If you’ve been on the road for more than a good ten minutes anywhere in America — you’ve found yourself cruising alongside an Altima (you might even be behind the wheel of one yourself). The fashionable Altima’s low-twenties base price makes it rank pretty well on affordability. So, buyers can mind the budget, and still drive in style. This car has been among the top picks of car buyers for very good reason; it’s a safe and reliable ride. Wherever you live, you can probably spot Altimas from several different model years — they’re built to last.
- Honda Accord: Speaking of built to last, Honda has been famous for cranking out cars that will run for years with minimal upkeep. The Accord has been a favorite in the U.S. for quite some time; with style cues and features that make the car come across as a much more expensive vehicle. This is probably due to the company owning the popular luxury brand, Lexus. Some of that Lexus panache translates over into the more affordable Accord, which has a starting price in the low to mid $20,000 range.
- Ford Fusion: As a company, Ford has stepped up their game over the years and proven that they are no longer the car company that was the butt of the “Fix-Or-Repair-Daily” joke. The Fusion has been noted for its rating as a Top Safety Pick, as well as its extreme level of reliability. All of that in a car that has a fairly low sticker and is seriously keeping up with the times on style and technology.
- Hyundai Sonata: Hyundai hasn’t been in the American market for as long as the other car companies on this list, but they have proven that they are in it to win it. The Sonata has made a real impression with car buyers; so much so that the car has come from virtually unknown to a top seller. While being an economical midsize car, the Sonata seems to have a bit of a luxury air and mystique about it. An initial quality rating that ranks the Sonata very high, will only help to cement its position.
- Toyota Camry: The Camry seems to solidify the trend of Asian automotive companies dominating the U.S. car market. The Camry is actually America’s top selling midsize car, and for very good reason; the car rates higher than most of vehicles in its category for quality, reliability and safety. The base price of the Camry is slightly higher than the other four cars that round out the top five, but as dad used to say, “you get what you pay for.”
