Just days after reports that Bobbi Kristina Brown had been weaned off of the medication that has kept her in a coma since Jan. 31, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown has had a devastating setback. Once taken off the meds, a source claims that Brown began experiencing violent seizures and was immediately placed back on coma drugs for her safety.
“This is a horrible setback. Everyone was hopeful that this was the sign that she’d turned the corner. We were so optimistic,” a source tells People. “Bobby is taking this so hard; he was sure this was going to be a good day. But please, everyone needs to pray for Krissi. I don’t care what religion you are, or if you have no religion at all. Send your thoughts, your prayers, your well-wishes. Send everything you’ve got. Please.”
Subhashini Ramesh, a professor of NeuroCritical Care at Georgia Regents University says that while the 21-year-old’s latest update may or may not be good news, the tracheostomy she underwent last week is a sign that her condition could be improving. “Obviously, she did not meet the criteria for brain death if she underwent a tracheostomy,” he said. “She still could have a devastating injury, though.”
According to the police, Brown was found face down in the bathtub by her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, in the bathroom of their home in Roswell, Georgia, on Jan. 31.
Although no arrests have been made, the criminal investigation continues to explore how Brown was injured.
