Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore album, To Pimp a Butterfly, has set a record for most album streams in a day. In total, the album was streamed 9.6 million times on Spotify on Monday, March 16, which broke the previous record set by Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late project last month.

Both  Kendrick Lamar and Drake continue to lead the pack with record-breaking feats every time they put out a new project. This healthy rivalry is also setting the tone for the industry as digital downloads play a major factor in first week sales results.

To Pimp a Butterfly is currently available on all digital retailers, and will be hitting stores at some point this week. For now though, the album can be copped on iTunes.

Congrats to Kendrick on his success.
