On March 19 at approximately 3:30 a.m. Dr. Yosef A.A. Ben-Jochannan, otherwise affectionately known as Dr. Ben, died. According to sources that are close to the family he had stopped eating and drinking several days earlier, as his metabolism slowed down. Although many are saddened by the news, those who went on social media have acknowledged that he was 97, which means he had lived for nearly 100 years.
Additionally most of the comments echo this same sentiment “Thank you for your dedication, scholarship, and body of work…thank you for caring about your people to leave behind so many great gems.” And to the chorus of voices we would like to add our gratitude for the body of work Dr. Ben has left for us to study. Become more familiar with Dr. Ben’s work by watching the video interview at the top this post entitled “African Origin in America.”
