ABC has ordered yet another comedy series, green-lighting “Uncle Buck,” starring comedian Mike Epps. According to Variety, “Uncle Buck” is one of several new comedies that has been added to ABC’s 2015-16 lineup. The others are “The Muppets,” “Dr. Ken” and the Martha Plimpton-led sitcom, “The Real O’Neals.”
Based on the 1989 John Hughes movie of the same name, (starring John Candy), ABC’s modern-day rendition centers around a diverse ensemble, which we’re sure is due to the success of breakout hit “Black-ish,” which was renewed for a second season earlier this week.
In the upcoming series, Epps will take on the role of a fun-loving but irresponsible guy whose in desperate need of a job and a place to lay his head. By happy coincidence, his nieces and nephew’s nanny has recently called it quits, leaving his brother and sister-in-law in a stitch. But it’s Uncle Buck’s (Epps) unconventional personality that makes him the perfect fit for the family.
Rounding out the Epps-led comedy are Nia Long, James Lesure, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi and Aalyrah Caldwell with Will Packer taking the reins as executive producer. Will you be watching?
