In a super emotional scene between Kris and Bruce, Kris cries as Bruce explains that he’ll always love her and the family they raised.
“You’re an amazing woman. We’ve had so many great moments together, 23 going on 25 years years of great moments together,” Bruce said. “They still live inside me. They’re still part of me. I don’t want to let that go. But I’ve got a struggle in my life. … In so many ways, I’ve lived my entire life running away from me and who I am.”
The two then ended up arguing about the final years of their marriage and both of them accused the other of being angry and mean in the end. Kris tells Bruce that she feels like he shut her out emotionally years ago and that he was dishonest with her for years about being transgender, adding that she knew he liked to cross-dress, but explaining that she didn’t know about his hormone therapy.
“I just miss Bruce. And that’s going to take me a minute to mourn that relationship. You think you’re going to grow old with somebody, and they drastically change over the course of just a few years. All I have really is my memories. I look at pictures of you and the kids, and I’m really sad because I feel like you died. You know, Bruce died. And it’s really hard for me to wrap my head around [it],” Kris said.
“I still love you, baby,” Bruce replied. “Is there anything I can do now to make it better for you?”
Kris asked him to “just live the happiest life you can live. That’s all I care about. And that you can find the peace you’ve been looking for for so long.”
