Celebrities lend their support to Rachel Dolezal …

One celeb in particular, Keri Hilson, says we should be thanking Rachel Dolezal rather than picking her apart. Just days after the president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP was accused of lying about her race, the “Pretty Girls Rock” singer offered her fans a different perspective.

“Let’s just all thank #RachelDolezal. Identity, pathological, & parental issues aside, she’s doing more than most of us do for ourselves,” Hilson tweeted. “It is really weird tho. She took it pretty far with slave whips & what not. Levels. Deep.”

The singer continued, “I’m not sayin she doesn’t have serious ISSUES, I’m just saying don’t knock her intentions or discredit her efforts. @NAACP stands by her work.”

The drama first began when Dolezal’s mother told a local NBC affiliate that the family had no African ancestry. But according to news outlets, Dolezal once identified as black, white and American Indian.

“One’s racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership,” the NAACP said to E! News in a statement earlier in the week. “The NAACP Alaska-Oregon-Washington State Conference stands behind Ms. Dolezal’s advocacy record.”

Following claims that she’s been living a lie, Dolezal told her critics “I don’t give two s—s what you guys think. You are so far done, and out, of my life.”

Considering the accusations made against her, we hope Dolezal will come forward with a better response.
