It’s been quite the roller coaster year for “Saved by the Bell” alum Lark Voorhies. Just weeks after tying the knot with record producer Jimmy Green, Voorhies found herself defending her marriage and her man.
In a new, tough to watch interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Voorhies defends Green, after her mother, Trica Voorhies hit him with a restraining order. “The support was there, you know, uh, specific as necessary,” she said. “Exact. It’s all celebratory so it’s a very strong, powerful, ongoing … and we carry that through …,” Voorhies appeared to say of her mother’s initial support.
“He’s not [taking advantage of me],” she said “We’re selectively together for all the right reasons.” Voorhies said of Green who she met on Facebook just a year ago.
In addition to defending her marriage, Voorhies reiterated that she is not bipolar, despite her mother’s claims. “I have always been mentally healthy, 100 percent stable — I had a sweep with, um … textbook clinical depression in remove [sic] of my first marriage, but that is basically all it’s been,” she said.
Sitting next to his wife, Green also said that he didn’t behave aggressively “enough” to merit the restraining order in place against him. “I was just aggressive, being …”
“Powerfully spoken,” Voorhies interjected.
When asked what he wanted people to take away after watching their interview, Green offered, “[That] they just understand that we’re the same as any other couple out there that’s in love, trying to accomplish business together and it’s not a scam or way to get money.”
“Right, the powerful uniting of one active, productive purpose,” Voorhies added.
Well, one thing is for sure, although the former child star has denied being bipolar, it is clear that she is dealing with something. What do you think of Voorhies’ recent interview? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
