Although most of his raps have illustrated life on the streets, Jeezy has always had a knack for politics. His 2008 hit “My President is Black” was an ode to President Barack Obama’s campaign run and was recorded nearly one year before he was elected as the first Black president.
Jeezy continues to express his political views and recently discussed his thoughts on Donald Trump’s controversial views on immigration: “I’m gonna keep it real man. It’s bad out here for a lot of people. Some rich people just want to be famous. You ever just met somebody rich who want to hang around all the celebrities and just be cool? That’s Donald Trump. This is my thing, we’re in America. You can’t take a group of people and single them out and say they’re what’s wrong with our country. We’re what’s wrong with our country and we gotta fix it. If you made it from Mexico to America for a better way of life, I gotta commend you, you’re here now. Do what you gotta do because this is the land where anything can happen. It’s the land of opportunity. It’s not like they’re taking any opportunities away. I’m a pretty good judge of character. Trump came off on Obama, but Obama got so much ice in his veins that he shut him down. He really clowned him. My thing with Donald Trump is that he should get his money and leave us alone–unless you’re gonna share some of it, man. Other than that, keep your mouth closed, homeboy. You really need to watch it, because El Chapo might not be playing with you. He might’ve broke out for a reason.”
