Kordale Lewis and Kaleb Anthony really did seem like the picture-perfect couple when they rose to fame as Internet stars after a photo of the two men posing in the mirror with their three kids went viral, making them a popular face for gay parents. But all that glitters isn’t golden and that, sadly, became clear yesterday when Anthony revealed that he and Lewis had split.
Anthony made the announcement yesterday, via the Atlanta couple’s shared Instagram page, telling their followers that the engagement was off and airing dirty secrets about what’s been going on in their relationship.
Anthony began the announcement by giving a shout-out to a “weedman,” whom many believe Lewis may have been having an affair with.
Anthony then posted a lengthy message, which he has since deleted, explaining the breakup.
“Loving someone shouldn’t be hard, it should be easy and stress free,” he writes. “You should never have to question your worth or compromise your morals when you’re with your soulmate.”
Anthony explains that he and Lewis tried to work things out, but ultimately decided to split.
“I cannot sit here and act like I was not part of the demise of ‘KordalenKaleb,’ but at no point do I or anyone else deserve to be disrespected the way I was and to continue it on while we’re together as a family on vacation,” he pointed out.
“Neither one of us were perfect in our relationship, but when you are blatantly disrespected by someone who is supposed to be working with you to make y’all better, going to counseling smiling and telling you how much everything is going to work out … it’s over,” Anthony writes.
Anthony then explained that he plans to focus on being a father to their three kids, Desmiray, Malia, and Kordale Jr.
“To my beautiful kids, I’ll see you this weekend at mommy’s house; it’s whatever you all want to do!” Anthony writes. “My love for them will always prevail even if ‘Daddy’ and I are no longer together.”
Despite the painful split, Anthony writes, “Love truly wins and I wish the best for Kordale.”
Earlier this year, Anthony and Lewis appeared in a groundbreaking two-minute commercial for Nikon’s “I Am Generation” ad campaign, in which they showcased their family life to the world. Since news of the split spread, Nikon released a statement about the former couple, saying they have no regrets about featuring their family in their campaign.
“We are aware of the news and wish the best to Kordale, Kaleb and their entire family. We were happy to have them participate in our campaign and there were no plans to extend marketing efforts with any of the featured participants,” the statement read.
We wish both of them the best and hope that they can at least remain cordial with each other as they co-parent their kids.
