Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continues to have an impressive year.
According to reports, the “Ballers” star has joined Disney’s live-action Jungle Cruise, with writers John Requa and Glenn Ficarra also attached to the project.
According to The Wrap, the upcoming flick, based on the popular theme park ride, does not yet have a director. The site also reports that the film is expected to be a period piece.
Although there’s no word of a release date, Johnson will be plenty busy filming Central Intelligence in addition to lending his vocals to another upcoming Disney animated project, Moana. “At DISNEY STUDIOS signing contracts to play the male lead in their next big classic animated musical, #MOANA. Just had an amazing 2hr presentation and it’s easy to see why they’re the greatest story tellers in the world. Im excited. And in the background my homies Fred & Wasabi from #BigHERO6 are jumpin’ for joy joy cause they heard I’m gonna sing in the movie. #WeTrulyKnowWhereWereGoing #WhenWeUnderstandWhereWereFrom #NeverForgetHome #MOANA” wrote Johnson via Instagram.
As previously reported, Moana is a comedy-adventure that tells the tale of a young lady who uses her navigational skills to journey to a fabled island. Traveling alongside her will be the legendary demi-god Maui, which is exactly where Johnson steps in.
But that’s not all. The Hercules hunk is set to star in Rampage, Shazam! and the highly anticipated Furious 8. It was also announced recently that heartthrob Zac Efron will be joining Johnson in the forthcoming Baywatch movie reboot. In other words, Johnson is booked, busy and blessed.
