Jennifer Hudson reveals why she shaved her head, and it’s pretty epic.
On Aug. 14, the R&B diva, 33, shared a glam snap via Instagram, featuring a super edgy buzz cut, unlike anything we’ve seen on her before. “All black every thang!” she wrote. “Who needs hair, when u serving face!” she continued.
And while she’s received a wide variety of criticism following her new ‘do debut, it appears that the close cut is for an upcoming role. According to The Wrap, Hudson is in talks to star in an Aretha Franklin biopic from Straight Outta Compton producer Scott Bernstein.
The biopic, which has Franklin’s approval (this may be a first), would focus in equal parts on both her singing career and her marriage to abusive manager Ted White. In 2012, Franklin told Glamour that her main concern with the film was accuracy: “Let’s present the facts and be as creative as possible with them.”
She also expressed her desire to see Denzel Washington or Billy Dee Williams play her father. J Hud has long been rumored as the possible star of a Franklin biopic; she auditioned for “American Idol” with a version of Franklin’s “Share Your Love With Me,” and performed “Baby, I Love You” during Idol’s Soul Week. Either way, were still here for Hudson’s new look. It’s fearless and fabulous.
