FX’s drama “Snowfall” is rounding out its cast.
The network has announced that Baggage Claim co-stars Jill Scott and Lauren London will reunite for the upcoming series. Scott will take on the role of Sharon “Cissy” Saint, the no-nonsense mother of Franklin (Damson Idris). Frustrated in both her personal and professional lives, Cissy has sacrificed her dreams to give Franklin opportunities she never had. Meanwhile, London will play Louise Saint, Franklin’s party-girl aunt.
Fronting the project is Hollywood filmmaker John Singleton, best known for flicks like Boyz n the Hood (1991), Poetic Justice (1993) and cult classic Baby Boy (2001) starring “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson and Tyrese. In other words, the pilot is in great hands.
According to THR, the drama focuses on the beginnings of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles in the 1980s. No word (yet) on when we can expect the series to hit the small screen, but we will definitely keep you posted.
