As we get closer to the season premiere of Fox’s breakout hit drama, Empire, more and more information about the upcoming season is beginning to make its way off the set and into the press.

The latest tidbit about the series to leak is that Lucious Lyon’s assistant, Becky, played by Gabourey Sidibe, will get a love interest.

According to Variety, actor Mo McRae will portray J-Poppa in a three-episode arc that will show him getting getting close to Sidibe’s character and also developing “a strong connection” to Andre (Trai Byers)

McRae’s appearance on the show will serve as something of a reunion for he and the show’s producers Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, as he worked with the duo on the 2013 film, The Butler.

Some of McRae’s other credits include Ray Donovan, Battle Creek, and Wild with Reese Witherspoon. He also has a recurring role on “Sons of Anarchy” and is a series regular on TNT’s “Murder in the First.” McRae can also be seen in HBO’s upcoming biopic on President Lyndon B. Johnson titled “All the Way.”
