If Miley Cyrus hosting the 2015 Video Music Awards didn’t already have you excited (or baffled), MTV’s recently released roster of performers definitely will.
On Tuesday, the music channel released the names of six acts who will hit the main stage on Sunday night. Those being the “Happy” Pharrell, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, rapper A$AP Rocky, Twenty One Pilots and Tori Kelly. As previously reported, The Weeknd will also be performing at the upcoming event.
While a handful of this year’s performers have graced the VMA stage before, others will be making their VMA debut. Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell have all performed in previous years.
Newcomers include Twenty One Pilots and Tori Kelly, who is not only performing for the first time, but attending for the first time, as well. Although Twenty One Pilots has never performed at the VMAs, they did perform at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards.
Kanye West is also rumored to perform at this year’s festivities. Earlier this week, it as announced that he’ll be the recipient of the Video Vanguard Award. As you may recall, in 2014, Beyoncé was the recipient of the very same award. Not only did she perform a massive montage of her hit songs, but her husband, Jay Z, and their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, came on stage as she accepted the award. We anticipate something similar from the misunderstood hip-hop head.
The VMAs air on Sunday Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. EST. Will you be watching?
