May her legacy live on…
We may have lost the vocal legend that is Whitney Houston in 2012, but her hologram will be taking center stage in a nationwide tour beginning in 2016.
Spearheaded by Hologram USA, along with the late singer’s sister and the president of her estate, Pat Houston, the project is surely going to be the event of the year. But that’s not it… fans can relive Houston’s biggest hits as a multimedia digital and cable show are said to be underway, as well.
“I was heartbroken when Whitney passed away in 2012,” Alki David, Hologram USA and FilmOn CEO said in a statement obtained by Rolling Stone. “The opportunity to share her spectacular gifts with the world again is exactly what I hoped for when I built the hologram business. I’m confident we’ll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney’s amazing artistry.”
Meanwhile, Pat released a statement of her own, expressing her excitement for the upcoming tour: “It’s a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come.”
Houston is just one of a handful of late stars to return to the stage by way of a hologram. In 2012, Tupac returned to the main stage at Coachella. Meanwhile, in 2008, a 3D projection of Frank Sinatra performed alongside Alicia Keys at the Grammy Awards.
The Apollo Theater in Harlem is also slated to host a series of hologram concerts beginning with an evening to remember with none other than Billie Holiday — which is currently scheduled for late November.
Although we haven’t come across any other details surrounding Houston’s hologram tour, we anticipate that people will pay big bucks to see one of our generation’s biggest stars hit the stage… just one more time…
