Heartthrob actor Idris Elba will soon add a producer’s credit to his growing résumé.
The 43-year-old actor will serve as executive producer of the upcoming Fox drama, “The Crusaders.”
According to Variety, the series will revolve around “an extended family of second-generation Africans living in the U.S. who specialize in locating and returning valuable objects stolen from Africa during colonial occupation.”
Elba will reunite with writer and director Thomas Ikimi for the new project. The pair previously worked together on Ikimi’s 2010 film, Legacy. In addition to Elba’s Green Door Pictures and Ikimi’s T&T Studios, the series will also be produced by Legendary Television and Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott of Di Bonaventura Productions.
“The Crusaders” will also serve to strengthen Elba’s growing bond with the Fox network as the network has a reworking of the hit series, “Luther,” in the works for Elba as well. That remake, to be based on the BBC drama, was ordered for a pilot last season and is currently being cast.
No air date has been given for “The Crusaders” thus far.
