Last week on “Dancing With the Stars” new cast member Hayes Grier introduced a dance he calls the “T. rex” in his performance with his partner, Emma Slater. In a post interview Grier even went on to elaborate on the new dance he allegedly created, stating it’s called the T. rex like in Jurrasic Park.
The dance is not called the “T. rex” It is referred to as the “Drop,” and was created by hip-hop duo Freco and Merlo late last year.Seems Hayes was cast by “DWTS” due to his “Vine” popularity. We know Vine is a site where you have to be humorous typically to capture everyone’s attention. No one cares where you got anything from as long as you get multiple people to watch. Hayes is a pro at capturing audiences. It will be interesting to see how high up the hip-hop chain he’s able to claim staking this as his dance.
Immediately, Black Twitter took offense as not only did Grier not create the dance, he obviously didn’t even know the origin of the dance or he would know that Freco and Merlo, two of Atlanta’s hottest underground hip-hop artists, created the dance a little over one year ago; and have since put out a couple videos including the dance moves.
Freco also happens to be the son of the alledgedly newest cast member of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and when Tammy McCall Browning (Freco’s mom/momager) got word of this interview she was very disturbed and had a few things to say on social media in defense of her son. (Too bad we can’t print those words.)
Grier did make a statement that he has plans to feature this dance more as they compete. Black Twitter responded.
Check it out after the break.
