Is Chris Tucker still engaged to Cynné Simpson?

Word on the street is Chris Tucker and his longtime girlfriend, Cynne Simpson, are no longer engaged. The couple made their first debut as a “couple” in December 2014, during Mayor Kasim Reed’s annual charity ball at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta.

Although the Fox 5 news anchor was originally identified only as Tucker’s date, photos from the event later emerged, featuring Simpson with a very large rock on the third finger of her left hand. Naturally, fans began to speculate whether the couple had already jumped the broom. Needless to say, Simpson’s giant sparkler was proof enough that Tucker was officially off the market. But apparently all that has changed, as reports have surfaced claiming the couple has called it quits. However, neither Tucker nor Simpson have responded to the claims.

Naturally, in light of the heartbreaking news, social media offered up their two cents on the split:

“[Does anyone [have] Chris’ phone number?” wrote Michelle Whedon (@mimiwhedon).

“So very sad… Those 2 were so great as a couple. So cute together.” added Crystal (@crystal_clear) via Twitter.

Simpson, 36, has been at Fox 5 since 2013, replacing Amanda Davis, who has not found new TV work since her post-DUI departure earlier that year. Simpson previously worked at WGCL-TV for a brief time in the mid-2000s before anchoring in D.C. for several years. In November 2013, she did a feature on Tucker for Fox 5.

Tucker, 49, is best known as a stand-up comic and star of the Rush Hour franchise. Aside from a small role in Silver Linings Playbook in 2012 and the occasional stand-up show, the Decatur native has kept a fairly low profile. The fact that his rumored engagement and now alleged breakup with Simpson has been so hush-hush, comes as no surprise at all.
