On Friday, Jan. 22, super producer and musician Jermaine Dupri reveals to the ladies of “The Real,” how working with Aretha Franklin made him a better producer. Things took a turn for the weird yet wonderful, when the 43-year-old compared producing to being a gynecologist.

“OK, I say that … I only use that [gynecologist term] because as women, when y’all go to the doctor, you know what his job is. So you can’t sit there and act crazy, you just got to do what he says. ‘Open up and let’s go,’ ” he said.

“I will easily go into [the studio] and say that. You know what I mean, it’s just that’s my job. I learned this because, I learned this from Aretha Franklin. I went to work with her. And when I got in the studio with her, she sang the song so well, I didn’t say even anything as a producer. And she hit the button like, ‘Are you going to tell me what to do?’ And I’m like, ‘You’re Aretha Franklin. I don’t know what to tell you to do.’ She said, ‘Well, listen, you’re supposed to be the producer.’ And she has a way of telling you, you know… [what] you’re supposed to be doing. … ‘We spent money to have you here. You’re supposed to do what you got to do’. And from that day I knew that that was my job. My job is to tell these artists or whoever I’m working with exactly what’s going on.”

So, when questioned about his feelings toward “The Real” co-hosts, Dupri answered, “I like it. You know, it’s young. It’s fun. Y’all talk a lot of realness, I was about to say something, but yeah. … That’s when I say gynecologist, I want to bring it out. I like that, you know, y’all put that out here.”
