Recently, Power 92 celebrated its 15-year anniversary at the Chicago Theatre with Chance The Rapper as the headlining act. Power 92 is an urban radio station that focuses on the hottest R&B and rap on the airwaves. Power 92 is No. 1 in the streets and staying true to form, they enlisted the talent of some of Chicago’s most popular and notable artists to help amplify the celebration. These artists included Dreezy, Bibby, BJ The Chicago Kid, Famous Dex and the headliner for the night, Chance The Rapper.

Many of these artists have found a home on Power 92, because of the station’s dedication to supporting local talent. This focus has helped to catapult many of their careers into the mainstream. The performances of the evening were diverse and energetic. Famous Drex seemed to be channeling Mick Jagger and Rick James in his performance. He didn’t rap much but the crowd loved his antics.

The highlight of the evening was when Chance The Rapper hit the stage and a few minutes into his performance mentioned he would be dropping a new mixtape soon. The crowd erupted with cheers when the announcement was made. Chance went through his catalog of music starting from his project Day 10 to his most recent appearance on Kanye West’s newest project The Life of Pablo. He performed his verse to “Ultralight Beam” with the help of a choir and a live band. Chance closed his set with his most popular hit “Sunday Candy” and was called out for an encore when he performed a few songs off of his Acid Rap release.

Congratulations to Power 92 on their fifteenth year. Check out a few of the pics from the concert below.
