For more than half a year now, Khloe Kardashian has been devoting a substantial portion of her time to tending to her estranged husband, Lamar Odom, as he recovers from his near-fatal overdose from last October. But while Khloe is busy caring for Odom, the former NBA star’s father claims that Khloe has cut him off and gotten him evicted from his home.
According to media reports, Odom’s father, Joe Odom, claims that his son had been paying $4K a month for 10 years to have him and his wife, Cecilia, stay in a home in L.A. However, Joe claims that after his son nearly died after an overdose, Khloe took control of Odom’s finances and decided to stop paying his rent in November.
“Khloé didn’t even have the guts to tell me herself that my rent wasn’t going to be paid anymore,” said Joe. “She got the guys who handle Lamar’s money to call me and they said the rent wouldn’t be paid, I gotta move and my phone was going to get cut off.”
He continued, “She disrespected me. She decided to kick me out of my home when Lamar was in hospital in Nevada.”
Joe also claims that Khloe has put a considerable amount of distance between Odom and his father and even claims that the Kardashian star has gone so far as to screen his calls to his son.
“I just wish I could be at his side in LA to support him, but Khloé doesn’t want me there,” Joe said.
“Whenever I call him, she answers. She must be checking his texts, too. I can’t always get through to him anymore,” he added. “She may be Lamar’s wife, but I’m his father. She shouldn’t have cut me out of his life like she has.”
However, Joe claims that he finally got in touch with his son last week and that Odom claimed he would sort things out with Khloe. But Joe says that things have yet to change.
Joe now says that he’s worried that his son, who has been attending daily rehab at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, will fall off the wagon and go back to his addictions now that he’s been photographed drinking with friends at a bar.
“Drinking is a slippery slope to all kinds of vices, and I want Lamar to stay away from it. It won’t help his recovery. I’m praying he makes it, of course,” he said.
Well, this sounds like a sad and messy situation. We wonder what Odom and Khloe think about Joe’s comments, though.
