The first two seasons of “Black Ink Crew Chicago” were explosive and got great ratings, due largely in part to the charismatic Don Brumfield. The ex-athlete and all-around party guy was an immediate favorite with the ladies partly due to his movie star good looks, ripped body and bad boy attitude. Fans of the show soon realized that Don’s playboy ways were about to cause a huge clash when his longtime girlfriend Ashley found out about him cheating on her with his pretty cast mate, Charmaine. The unwilling threesome caused several explosions which translated to great ratings for VH1 producers, but unfortunately, when the smoke cleared Don’s girlfriend Ashley was left with a broken heart.

“Hearing the comments from fans of the show was hurtful. Everyone saw me just acting crazy,” Ashley says. Being unaware of her “baby Daddy’s” actions was surely a position that more women than want to admit have experienced.

Still, Ashley chose to stick by her man and refused to allow the opinions of others to separate her from the man she loves. “I’ll never leave her. She is home. That’s my family. I’ve made some mistakes, but a lot of it was exaggerated. Seeing her hurt was what made me the most upset,” Don explains.

Time heals everything because as the duo prepare to go into the third season of “Black Ink Crew Chicago,” Don and Ashley are stronger than ever, returning as husband and wife. Don admits that his past indiscretions hurt his home, including his now-wife Ashley and young son. Not only does he regret hurting his family, but he also regrets showing the wrong example to the students he mentors in Chicago.

Don and Ashley sat down for a reality check on how they initially met, the pain Don’s cheating caused, the wedding that almost didn’t happen and why no one will be able to infiltrate their relationship moving forward. Check out the entire interview after the jump.
