A Florida father is being called a hero, as he stopped his daughter from being kidnapped outside his home. According to police, Amber Brackney, 17, was leaving her home when she saw that her driveway was blocked off with orange barrels. The teen drove around the barrels rather than getting out of her car to move them aside.

This apparently foiled the plans to kidnap her by Keilon Johnson, 19, Austin French, 17, 16-year old Tyree Johnson, and 15-year old Kamauri Horn, who were hiding nearby.

As Amber drove down the street, her father, Terry Brackney, 51, heard a noise outside his house and grabbed his gun. He discovered the teens trying to force their way into his garage and he opened fire on them. The gang ran into the woods, escaping the gunfire but were later caught when a neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reported finding a knife, guns and a roll of tape and released the following statement: “The goal was to first force her out of her car by blocking the road with barrels and garbage cans. (However, their intended victim drove around the barrels and kept going.) They then planned to head to her house, confront and subdue her father — who they believed to be wealthy — and rob the home.”

All four teens have been charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted home invasion robbery. Johnson was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail while the others are being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice facility.
