Christopher Scott is the founder of Opulent Credit Builders Inc. Scott helps individuals, families, small businesses and Fortune 500 companies to repair, clean and improve their credit in less than three months.

Rolling out had the opportunity to chat with Scott about his thriving business.

So, what’s your story?

I’m Christopher Scott, owner of Opulent Credit Builders Inc. I’m a 38-year-old father of three (sons) from Robbins, Illinois. I repair consumer and business credit and educate clients on how to keep their credit opulent.

How did you first get involved with your business?

I got started repairing consumer credit as a hobby when my mom stopped paying my college tuition and I began incurring debt that reflected negatively on my credit report. So, I read several books on credit and credit repair and wrote letters to credit bureaus and creditors to clean up my credit.

Tell us about a time when things didn’t go the way you wanted them.

I was working with a major law firm in Chicago, helping them successfully repair the credit of their corporate clients. But, at the end of the day, I never received credit for my work; so, I started my own company.

What is your greatest achievement?

So far, my greatest achievement is becoming MBE-certified with the city of Chicago.

What has surprised you the most about your business?

Bad credit does not discriminate … no matter your race, family/bloodline, or profession. And, surprisingly, practically everyone has some type of credit issue.

What’s been the most difficult day of your career so far and how did you deal with it?

The most difficult days of my career are those when I have to deal with disgruntled clients who don’t understand credit and the important role good or bad credit plays in their lives. Patience gets me through because — in the end — their financial freedom is worth it all.

If were sitting here a year from now celebrating what a great year it’s been for you, what did you achieve?

I will have landed a huge contract with a major sports team and successfully got each player’s credit up to par. And, I became the premier credit repair company in Chicago.

What was the last thing you googled?

The last thing that I googled was how to be a vendor for the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.

Tell us about someone who has influenced your decision to pursue your career.

I’ve always looked up to Bob Johnson. He’s influenced me with his love for helping people get to the next level as well as his constant urging for people to get and keep their credit in order. He started BET from nothing; now, he has a chain of hotels.

What might we be surprised to know about you?

I used to be an EMT and served as a firefighter for the city of Robbins.

What’s next for your business?

I’m writing a book to help all my clients maintain opulent credit after I help them get them back on their feet.
