Soulja Boy opened 2019 with a bang and could be closing the year in jail.

The “Crank Dat” rapper made national headlines in January after his interview on “The Breakfast Club” went viral. During the interview, Soulja Boy, aka DeAndre Cortez Way, claimed that he had that biggest comeback in hip-hop of 2018. Soulja Boy’s hilarious soundbites inspired social media users to create several memes with his antics, and the rapper experienced a brief resurgence.

However, his career spiraled out of control again in February after his ex-girlfriend claimed that he held her against her will at his San Fernando Valley home. Police raided the home and discovered guns, a violation of the rapper’s probation.

Soulja Boy was initially arrested in March and released in time to perform at the Los Angeles Clippers game. He bragged about his release on social media by going on Instagram live and saying, “I’m out of jail! This s— ain’t gonna stop. I’m not going out like 6ix9ine. Bro, you got me f—ed up!”

On April 30, however, Soulja Boy finally had to face the consequences of his actions. A judge sentenced him to 240 days in jail and 265 days of community service.
