Soulja Boy doesn’t mind coming at other rappers, but he was once somebody who was on the other end of that stick.

The rapper recently went on a rant after J. Cole mentioned him in an interview with Lil Yachty. Cole said that around the time “Crank That” came out, he was a hater of the new generation of music.

“Sounds crazy to say now ’cause it’s such a classic to me. But at that time I had resistance,” Cole said. ‘Nah that’s not the thing that I love. Like what? Y’all f—— with this?’ ”

Soulja Boy reacted to the comments, claiming that Cole and Big Sean were hating on him back then, but also mentioned how words from Snoop Dogg had him in his feelings.

“When I first came out, [Snoop] was like, ‘Crank That’ What is this bulls—,’ ” Soulja Boy said. “It hurt my soul. I wanted to cry. I was 17 at the time. This is my idol telling me that I suck. I’m like, ‘what the f—?’

“Then I met Snoop Dogg in person, and he was like ‘Man, my bad. I didn’t understand the song when it first came out. Now I jam to that s—.'”

Soulja Boy said that despite the hate, he has always had love for these people.

“I always just had a soft spot in my heart for the [people] that hate,” Soulja Boy said. “Because I’ve always been hated on.”
