Two athletes were recently involved in separate car incidents over the weekend, as one was hospitalized and the other died.

On the morning of Nov. 11, former NFL player D.J. Hayden was killed in a car crash in Houston. The 33-year-old was one of six people who were killed after a car ran a red light around 2 a.m., colliding with another car and striking a pedestrian on the sidewalk.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, including the pedestrian and driver who ran the light. Four others were taken to a hospital where two died, one was in critical condition, and one was in stable condition.

Two of the people who died were Hayden’s former University of Houston teammates, Zach McMillian and Ralph Oragwu.

On the night of Nov. 11, Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. was struck by a car in Center City while walking near his home. The car was traveling at a high speed before it struck Oubre in the chest with its driver-side mirror. The car fled the scene, and no arrests have been made yet.

Oubre was hospitalized in stable condition with a broken rib and injuries to his hip and right leg and will miss extended time on the court but he is expected to return before the end of the season.
