Meek Mill has been through some ups and downs in his life, which means his knowledge can help people get on the right track.
One of the obvious answers to getting out of poverty is making more money — but you also have to find a way to make that money. Mill thinks getting out of poverty is bigger than just making money, and he shared a tip with his followers on X.
“Being gangsta will get you hurt, put in jail or killed … being smart will get you out of poverty and your family and friends living better,” he said. “It’s no comparison — being smart is the only solid way out the trenches … everything else is [a] wide-rang[ing] life risk just to survive!”
Many users agreed with the rapper’s statement, while others believed that he was contradicting himself.
“These kids in the trenches, they hear what you say … but they also see what you do,” one user said. “You speaking out like this definitely helps … but they listen to the music that you make and promote, so it’s like the gift and the curse. The content of the music must change … respectively.”
“Remember this next time you write, Meek. No more ‘I got a hundred shooters in ma block,’ ” another user said. “There’s a straight line between the hit records out here and the news headlines. We all can do better.”
It looks like Mill wants to start 2024 on a positive note after he finished 2023 with his REFORM Alliance helping pass a state senate bill in Pennsylvania to change its probation law to help former inmates. However, it will be interesting to see if the message in his music changes.
