Detroit Lions fans are devastated.

In the team’s first NFC Championship appearance since 1991, and an opportunity to go to the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance ever, the Lions blew a 24-7 lead against the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 28.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a picture of her father on the living room floor in a Jared Goff jersey T-shirt with his head in a pillow, a visual representation of despair and disappointment from a grown man.

The Lions hosted a watch party in Detroit at Ford Field and in the final seconds of the game, security tackled a fan who ran onto the field.

The players were also disappointed, including star offensive tackle Penei Sewell, who was asked how he felt about being on the team to make the NFC Championship for the first time in over 30 years.

“That s— don’t matter,” Sewell said.

Then, came the morning after.

Some fans still defended the team and coach Dan Campbell. A fan said the team is young and Campbell has shown improvement every single game.

Campbell told his team something that wasn’t as optimistic.

“I told those guys, ‘this might have been our only shot,’ ” Campbell said. “Do I think that? No. Do I believe that? No, however, I know how hard it is to get here. I’m well aware, and it’s going to be twice as hard to get back to this point next year, as it was [this] year.”
