Not only did J. Cole give fans a surprise album, but he also released a diss song in response to Kendrick Lamar on the last track of the album titled “7 Minute Drill.”
It didn’t take long for Cole to address Lamar in the song, rapping on the hook “I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissin’. You want some attention, it come with extensions.”
Cole continues in the first verse, rapping “Your first s— was classic, your last s— was tragic, your second s— put n—– to sleep, but they gassed it, your third s— was massive and that was your prime,” referring to Lamar’s album catalog.
Cole didn’t stop there, and later in the verse, he says “The rap beef ain’t realer than the s— I seen in Cumberland. He averagin’ one hard verse like every thirty months or somethin’, if he wasn’t dissin’ then we wouldn’t be discussin’.”
The response fres from Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That.” Lamar took shots at both Cole and Drake, saying “F— sneak dissin’, first-person shooter, I hope they came with three switches,” referring to Drake’s song “First Person Shooter” which features Cole.
Lamar later on says “Motherf— the big 3, n—- it’s just me.”
As J. Cole has sent out his response, fans are waiting to see if and when Drake will respond.
