Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly headed for a divorce after less than two years of marriage, Yahoo! and Daily Mail report.
The Hollywood power couple, known nationwide as “Bennifer,” haven’t been seen together publicly since they were spied having lunch together in New York seven weeks ago, the Daily Mail stated.
“They just couldn’t make it work,” Yahoo! quotes a source.
“The writing is on the wall — it’s over,” the insider added. “They’re headed for a divorce — and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!”
Fans, media saw clues that Lopez and Affleck were at odds
One of the clues fans discerned is the fact that the couple was always being photographed out in public. But there have been seldom sightings of the pair in the past two months.
Another indication of marital problems was Affleck’s extremely conspicuous absence at the Met Gala in New York even though Lopez was the co-chair of the event.
Yahoo! reports that Affleck has already moved out of the dream home the couple spent two years looking for. Moreover, the publication reports that Lopez was house hunting in Beverly Hills — and Affleck was nowhere to be found.
“He’s focusing on his work and his kids now,” the insider said. “Ben already moved out, and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him — and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”
Yahoo stated that there was palpable tension at the premiere of Lopez’s Amazon Prime Video documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told in February 2024. The doc took an intimate look into Lopez’s love life with Affleck back in the early 2000s and the rekindling of their romance 17 years after breaking up.
Lopez seemed to sense this unease.
“I don’t think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing this, [but] he doesn’t want to stop me,” she admitted.
“Ben would never try to stifle [Jennifer]’s dreams or tell her she can’t do something that advances her career,” the source said, “even though she can be quite controlling of him.”
“Bennifer” was originally headed for marriage back in September 2023 but called it off just days before the wedding. They broke up altogether that following January. They rediscovered their love for each other in the spring of 2021 and got married in July 2022.
