Rick Ross and his crew found out firsthand that there is a risk to mocking rap superstar Drake in his Canadian homeland.
According to a video that has quickly gone viral worldwide, Ricky Rozay and his crew got jumped by Canadian fans after the rap mogul played Kendrick Lamar’s blockbuster hit “Not Like Us” to close out his set at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver on Sunday, June 30.
Ross, like Lamar and multiple other rappers, has been embroiled in a bitter beef with Drizzy in recent times.
As Ross left the stage with the “Not Like Us” song blaring through the speakers, a group of Canadian music fans confronted Ross, whose real name is William Roberts.
During the confrontation, someone appears to throw a punch that connects with Ross’ face, and then other fans ambushed Ross and his crew with fisticuffs.
In another video supplied to “TMZ,” Ross makes an executive decision to quickly head for the safety of the exit while his crew got hands and feet put on them by Drake supporters.
The situation was already heated in advance of Ross’ appearance because he proudly announced in advance to his 20 million Instagram followers that he was going to appear at the Vancouver festival.
Rick Ross had been antagonizing Drake for the past few months
Canadians were already well aware that Ross, 48, detests Drake, 37. Ricky Rozay compounded the acrimony between himself and Drizzy with a series of online posts antagonizing the Canadian rapper back in April. Ross asserted that Drake had surgery to remove fat to accentuate his abs and called Drake “BBL Drizzy.”
Ross also accused Drake of getting a nose job in his “Champagne Moments” single.
In the lyrics, Ross calls Drake a “White boy,” and rapped, “That’s why you had an operation to make your nose smaller than your father’s nose.”
Drake denied undergoing any cosmetic alterations to his face when he told his 146 million IG followers that, “I would have got us a 2-for-1 deal if I went ma.”
