Lollapalooza 2024: A celebration of Black excellence in music

From Aug. 1-4, the iconic Grant Park in Chicago transformed into a vibrant hub of music, food and culture as thousands gathered for Lollapalooza 2024. This year’s festival showcased an impressive lineup of Black artists, solidifying its reputation as one of the premier music festivals in the country.

Star-studded performances

The festival kicked off with a bang on Aug. 1, featuring electrifying performances from artists like FLO, Tyla and headliner Megan Thee Stallion. Megan opened her set with the fierce track “HISS,” followed by crowd favorites like “Ungrateful” and “Thot S—.” Despite a brief rain shower, the audience’s energy remained high.


Friday highlights

Friday brought even more excitement with performances from Sexyy Red, Victoria Monét and SZA. Victoria Monét lit up the T-Mobile Stage, delivering hits from her acclaimed album Jaguar. SZA, the night’s headliner, captivated the crowd with her soulful tracks, including “Seek & Destroy” and “Broken Clocks.” Her heartfelt performance of “20 Somethings” left a lasting impression on fans.

Festival attractions

Lollapalooza 2024 was not just about music; it also featured engaging brand activations and delicious food options. Major brands like Bacardi, Red Bull and Coca-Cola created immersive experiences for festival-goers. The Liquid I.V. activation offered attendees a refreshing break with unique hydration flavors, while the Bud Light stage hosted thrilling performances from artists like Future and Metro Boomin.


Diverse lineup and unforgettable moments

Day three of the festival saw performances from Armani White and Killer Mike, culminating in a dynamic set by Future and Metro Boomin. The crowd sang along to hits like “All My Life” and “Stick Talk,” creating an electric atmosphere. The final day featured Vince Staples and SiR, with Staples engaging the audience by inviting young fans on stage to recite his lyrics.

A weekend to remember

As Chicago buzzed with excitement from the festival and the National Association of Black Journalists Conference, Lollapalooza 2024 was a resounding success. The festival highlighted a diverse array of musical talent and created unforgettable experiences for all attendees, reaffirming its status as a cornerstone of the global music circuit.

With its vibrant atmosphere and celebration of Black excellence in music, Lollapalooza 2024 will be remembered as a landmark event for years to come.
