The 17-year-old twin daughters of Sean “Diddy” Combs, D’Lila and Jessie, have paid tribute to their late mother Kim Porter on the sixth anniversary of her death. Porter’s influence in the modeling industry included campaigns for major fashion brands and appearances in numerous magazines throughout the 1990s.

The rapper’s girls posted a sentimental Instagram post on their joint account honoring the model and actress six years after she died at age 47 from lobar pneumonia in 2018. Lobar pneumonia, a severe form of the illness, affects one or more lobes of the lungs and requires immediate medical attention. According to medical reports, this condition affects approximately 450,000 Americans annually.

“We can’t believe it’s been six years without you,” they said alongside a black-and-white picture of Kim holding up one twin and kissing her while the other is sound asleep on her shoulder. “We think about you every single second of the day. We love and miss you so much words can’t even explain. We wish you were here with us but we know your spirit will be around forever!! We Love you Mommy (two red heart emojis.)”

Combs, 55, has been in jail in New York since being arrested in September on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The case has drawn significant media attention and sparked widespread discussion about accountability in the entertainment industry. If convicted, Combs could face up to 20 years in prison for each trafficking charge.

Along with twins D’Lila and Jessie, Porter had sons Quincy, 33, and Christian, 26, and in September they issued a joint statement hitting out after a memoir claiming to be written by the late model was released online. The family has consistently worked to protect Porter’s legacy and maintain the authenticity of her story. Porter’s relationship with Combs began in 1994 and they remained close co-parents even after their romantic relationship ended.

“Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue,” they said on Instagram, adding: “She did not. And anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves.”

A Porter scholarship fund

The family’s dedication to preserving Porter’s memory has been evident throughout the years following her passing. They established the Kim Porter Memorial Scholarship Fund to support aspiring young models and actresses.

They added anyone speaking as a “friend” of Porter’s was “not a friend” and does not have her best interests at heart. This statement came after several unauthorized biographies and stories emerged claiming inside knowledge of Porter’s life. Porter’s impact on the fashion industry extended beyond modeling, as she also appeared in several films and television shows throughout her career.

Combs was taken into custody on Sept. 16 after nearly a year of ongoing investigations which included home raids and several lawsuits against him, alleging sex abuse and rape. The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies and gathered substantial evidence over many months. Federal authorities reportedly interviewed more than 50 witnesses during the investigation.

A judge denied his application for $50 million bail and he is locked up at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center while he awaits trial. The facility maintains strict security protocols and limited visitation rights. The detention center currently houses approximately 1,600 inmates and has been the temporary home to numerous high-profile defendants over the years.

Porter’s legacy continues to influence the fashion and entertainment industries. During her career, she graced the covers of Elle and Marie Claire magazines and worked with prestigious brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Revlon. Her work as an actress included roles in popular films and TV shows such as The Brothers and “Wicked Wicked Games.”

The twins, who have inherited their mother’s striking features, have begun following in her footsteps, making their own mark in the fashion industry while keeping their mother’s memory alive through various charitable initiatives and public tributes.
