Kim Kardashian says her family’s annual Christmas Eve party will be more “low-key” this year.
Matriarch Kris Jenner, 69, started the tradition back in 1987 at her home, but in recent years, her daughters Kourtney, 45, and Kim, 44, have hosted at their houses. The annual celebration has become known for its extravagant decor and entertainment, with previous parties reportedly costing upwards of $500,000.
“Just because we have a lot of construction going on, so we’re doing a really family intimate one that I’m really excited about,” Kim explained that the gathering will be a little more “intimate” this year, due to “construction” work going on. The Kardashian-Jenner properties are known for their frequent renovations and upgrades.
Speaking to Vogue, Kim shared: “Just because we have a lot of construction going on, so we’re doing a really family intimate one that I’m really excited about.” The family’s previous parties have featured everything from winter wonderland themes to live performances by major artists.
However, that won’t stop the family getting all glammed up. The Kardashian-Jenner Christmas parties are known for their elaborate dress codes and photo opportunities.
“Still dressing up to the nines, because that’s what we do,” Kim added. The family’s holiday fashion choices often make headlines and influence seasonal trends.
The Skims founder – who has North, 11, Saint, nine, Chicago, six, and five-year-old Psalm with ex-husband Kanye West – says the parties are so legendary that even their children’s friends wish they could attend, and she vowed to keep the festive family tradition going. The family’s Christmas celebrations have been documented extensively on their reality shows over the years.
“They’re just beginning. Our kids love them and now all their friends want to come. It’s such a fun tradition,” she said. The next generation of Kardashian-Jenners has added a new dimension to the family’s holiday celebrations.
One of the only times it was cancelled was amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The family faced public scrutiny for their handling of social gatherings during that period.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Kim has started dating again. Her romantic life has been a subject of public interest since her rise to fame.
The reality star split from comedian Pete Davidson, 31, in late 2022 after nine months together, and now she is said to be involved with someone who is not in the public eye. Their relationship had generated significant media attention.
“Kim has started dating someone new and keeping it very under wraps,” a source told Us Weekly. “She’s said the next person she dates will be someone who isn’t famous.”
The ‘Kardashians’ star doesn’t speak out much about her private life but did note last year that she was going to “take [her] time” with finding love again. Her approach to dating has evolved over the years, particularly after her high-profile relationships.
Speaking on the ‘On Purpose with Jay Shetty’ podcast, she said: “I think I’ll always be a hopeless romantic and always want to be in love and definitely love sharing my life with someone, and love creating a life with someone. I definitely will take my time. And I think there’s so many factors, especially when you have kids and being mindful of people that enter in your life. I think just having that mutual respect, treating people with respect is just a given.”
Kim was married to Damon Thomas from 2000 until 2004, and Kris Humphries for a period of 72 days in 2011. Both marriages received extensive media coverage and public attention.
The businesswoman was married to rapper Kanye from 2014 until 2022. Their relationship and subsequent divorce have been among the most publicized celebrity marriages of the decade.
The scaling back of this year’s Christmas celebration marks a shift from the family’s typically grandiose affairs, though their influence on popular culture and social media remains substantial. The Kardashian-Jenner family’s ability to balance tradition with evolution has been key to their enduring presence in entertainment and business.
