Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, is stepping into the spotlight as she prepares for her upcoming marriage to longtime partner Wayne Duece. In a candid interview with ESSENCE, Broadus shares insights about her relationship, the challenges of wedding planning, and her ongoing health journey.

Meeting Wayne: A love story

Broadus and Deuce’s love story began at a school party when Broadus was just 16. She recalls, “I was very friendly, so I was like, ‘Hi, I’m Cori. Nice to meet you.’ ” Deuce, who was 18 at the time, was unaware of Broadus’ famous lineage until they connected on social media. He describes her as “normal” and humble, qualities that drew him to her. Their relationship blossomed from friendship to romance, and now they are preparing to tie the knot.

Sharing their journey on reality TV

The couple is sharing their journey to marriage on the E! reality show, “Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori & Wayne’s Story.” Broadus explains her motivation for sharing this chapter of her life: “I think I’m just such an open book, and I love to show the good and the bad. Maybe it will help the next person with their relationship.” This openness is refreshing, especially in a world where social media can often amplify negativity.

Dealing with social media commentary

As a public figure, Broadus has faced her share of unwanted commentary online. She acknowledges the difficulty of ignoring negative comments, saying, “It’s hard because … it’s that one person on there who says something negative that might ruin my whole mood.” However, she has learned to focus on the positive feedback and recognize that negativity often stems from the insecurities of others. “I feel like they’re saying all these hateful things online, but if they see me in person, I’m pretty sure it’ll be the complete opposite of what they’re saying online,” she adds.

The challenges of wedding planning

Wedding planning has proven to be a challenging experience for Broadus and Deuce. “Wedding planning has been very miserable,” Broadus admits, highlighting the myriad of opinions and decisions that come with organizing a wedding. She expresses a desire for a simpler ceremony, saying, “Honestly, I wouldn’t want to do it again. If anything, I would rather go to the courthouse and get married so we can just live happily ever after.” This sentiment resonates with many couples who find the planning process overwhelming.

Support from family

Broadus’ parents, Snoop Dogg and Shante Broadus, have been a source of unwavering support throughout this journey. Broadus appreciates their approach, stating, “They just let you go with the flow. They let you just experience things the way that you need to.” Their encouragement has been instrumental as she navigates the complexities of wedding planning and her relationship with Deuce.

Health journey and resilience

In addition to her relationship, Broadus has been open about her health struggles, including a stroke earlier this year and her battle with lupus. She reflects on her daily challenges, saying, “Every day is harder than others … I may have a really good day where I’m appreciative of still being here.” Staying busy and focusing on the positives has helped her cope with her health issues.

What she loves about Wayne

As she prepares to marry Deuce, Broadus shares what she loves most about him: his unwavering support. “He’s just so supportive, and I have someone that I can just always depend on,” she says. This foundation of support is crucial as they embark on their new life together.

The finale of “Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori & Wayne’s Story” airs on Dec. 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on E!, with all episodes available for streaming on Peacock. Broadus’ journey is not just about love and wedding planning; it’s also about resilience, support and the importance of family.
