The White Lotus’ Natasha Rothwell calls US President Donald Trump “trash” most days. This consistent social media behavior has attracted attention from fans and media outlets alike, creating a unique form of celebrity political expression.

Natasha – who reprised her role as Belinda Lindsey for the recent third season of the HBO show – often takes to X to send the same message to Trump’s account, but she mixed it up in one of her recent posts. Her character in The White Lotus earned her critical acclaim, with the series becoming one of HBO’s most successful recent productions.

The 44-year-old star regularly sends a message to Trump saying: “you are trash”. Her persistent social media campaign represents one of the most consistent celebrity political statements in recent memory.

She has done so nearly 200 times since October, including more than 100 times since the year began. This dedication to her daily ritual has made her posts something of a cultural phenomenon among her followers.

But on Sunday (27.04.25), Natasha became a bit more creative. The occasional variations in her messages tend to generate significantly more engagement than her standard posts.

She shared a picture of Trump with his eyes closed at Pope Francis’ funeral, and she added the message: “lmao you are trash.” This particular post quickly spread across multiple social media platforms.

If Natasha skips a day of sending her “trash” Trump message, she often double posts the following day to make up for it. This commitment to consistency has become a defining characteristic of her social media presence.

She also mixed up her usual insult on Easter Sunday (20.04.25). Holiday-themed variations have become something followers actively anticipate from the actress’s account.

“You are trash and I hope you have a s***** Easter,” Natasha wrote. This seasonal adaptation received particular attention from entertainment news websites.

On April 18th, a fan noticed she had been posting lots of the same message and asked her: “Everyday for the next 4 years???! (sic). This interaction highlighted the public’s fascination with her dedication to the daily ritual.

She simply replied: “Yes.” This confirmation suggests her campaign will continue throughout Trump’s presidential term, potentially becoming one of the longest-running celebrity protest statements.

Natasha also took a swipe at Trump on April 7th, insisting The White Lotus hotel was better than his Florida residence Mar-a-Lago. The comparison between the fictional luxury hotel and Trump’s real-world property sparked numerous conversations among fans of the show.

She wrote on X: “The White Lotus Mar-a-lago.” This clever reference to both her professional work and political viewpoint demonstrated her ability to blend her entertainment career with her political activism.

Other occasions Natasha has mixed up her Trump bashing was on February 28th, when she posted: “you are trash- like for real though.” These occasional emphatic variations serve to renew interest in her daily practice.

And on February 4th she took a rare break from sending her usual message on X to tell how her heart was “aching” for the cast of ‘How to Die Alone’, which she created and starred in, after the show was axed after one season. This brief interruption in her routine highlighted a professional disappointment before she returned to her political messaging.

“This is hard to comprehend… My heart is aches for the cast, crew and writers who gave their all to tell this story. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity, and appreciate all of the love and support. Hopefully this news will be a comma in the HTDA story, not a period,” she wrote. The show had been praised for its authentic storytelling and representation before its unexpected cancellation.

Less than four hours later, normal service was resumed as she wrote: “.@realDonaldTrump you are trash. (sic)” This quick return to her established pattern demonstrated how integral the practice has become to her online identity.

Social media experts have noted that Rothwell’s approach represents an unusual form of celebrity political expression – one that relies on repetition rather than lengthy statements. The simplicity and consistency of her message has created a recognizable brand of political commentary that stands out in the digital landscape.

While some view her approach as simplistic, others appreciate the straightforward nature of her protest. In Hollywood, where political statements often come in lengthy interviews or elaborate social media threads, Rothwell’s direct approach represents an alternative form of celebrity activism.
