Royal Family Denounces Topless Kate Middleton Photos
Fresh off the heels of another nude scandal, Britain’s Royal Family is denouncing photos that show the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing while topless. Kate Middleton, 30, is at the center of photo scandal after Closer magazine, a French publication, published pictures of her vacationing sans a top with her husband Prince William. Shortly after the pictures were released the Royal Family released a scathing statement threatening legal action.
“Their royal highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner,” the statement read. “Their royal highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them […] “Officials acting on behalf of their royal highnesses are consulting with lawyers to consider what options may be available to the Duke and Duchess.”
In addition to mentioning a potential lawsuit, the Royals added that the incident is “reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.” Diana famously passed away in a 1997 car crash after fleeing from the paparazzi.
A U.K. version of the publication is adamant that they are in no way affiliated with the French version and would never post pictures of the Royals in all their glory. In August, Middleton’s brother-in-law, Prince Harry, was photographed partying in Las Vegas in the nude. The Prince was playing a round of strip poker.
