6 Reasons You Should Watch Omarosa on ‘Donald J. Trump Presents: The Ultimate Merger’

Omarosa

TV One debuted the new relationship reality series, “Donald J. Trump Presents: The Ultimate Merger,” featuring Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, on June 17. You know her. She’s the sexy reality “villainess” everyone loves to hate. Omarosa first made her televison debut on the first season of Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” and has been providing viewers with captivating TV ever since. “Merger” is no different.

The fact that the notoriously shrewd investor Donald Trump placed his bet on a reality series starring his now “pal” already speaks volumes, but here are six more reasons you should tune in to catch Omarosa sifting through 12 bachelors from various walks of life trying to make the “Ultimate Merger”:

1. Stereotypes are busted:
There’s been the argument, since television was born, that blacks are mostly depicted in an unflattering light. Most believe black women specifically, have been viewed as either hoochies or loud and unintelligent buffoons, especially through modern-day blaxpoitation vehicles such as Tiffany Pollard’s “I Love New York.” Omarosa is far from being either and brings highbrow intellect, polished versatility and ambition to the table. Isn’t it about time?

2. Al B. Sure:
Al B. Sure, the light-skinned legend, is one of the potentials for Omarosa. He’s been in the news lately with drama surrounding his son, Quincy. His “mini-me,” who’s being raised by Diddy — at least to the naked eye — put him on blast for allegedly not having been there for him. Is he a deadbeat dad or has he been mischaracterized? You just may gain insight from the show.

3. Eye Candy for Women:
For the most part, “Merger” presents women with an easy place to rest their eyes for an hour each Thursday night. The bachelors handpicked by Donald Trump himself represent the gamut of conventionally attractive men eager to connect with the assertive reality queen.

4. Black Network Support: African Americans have long lamented the fact that there are few opportunities for us to see ourselves on television, and presented as we wish to be presented. So, when you have a black network that has the power to deliver original and race-complimentary programming for us, such as “Merger,” it would almost be criminal not to support it.

5. Softer Side of Omarosa: We’ve only been presented with one side of Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth — the cutthroat Ice Queen. Admittedly, she’s played into that image in order to transform her would-be 15 minutes into a real career in entertainment, but there are other sides she’d now like for us to see. Since she’s on a quest to find love, you just may catch a glimpse of a vulnerable and possibly even submissive Omarosa, which could truly be something to behold.

6. Black Women are Struggling Right Now: The plight of black women finding viable men has been discussed a lot lately, and even exploited by major white-owned networks like CNN. “Merger” sheds light on the process of worthy black girl meets — or chooses boy — and strives to live happily ever after. If she can attract 12 to compete for her love, there just may be some hope for others. Great opportunity to take notes, ladies. –gerald radford
