Chris Brown’s probation revoked due to hit-and-run, could face 4 years

Chris Brown Court Appearance

Chris Brown is in very serious trouble. A judge has revoked the singer’s five-year probation from his 2009 assault of his former girlfriend, pop superstar Rihanna.  TMZ reports that Brown attended court on yesterday (July 15th) to face the L.A. County district attorney’s motion to revoke his probation.

The motion was filed after Brown was charged in a hit-and-run accident in May. The judge granted the motion.

The Grammy winner now faces a probation violation hearing in August.

The singer, who has been in numerous legal and personal mishaps over the past few of years, now faces the possibility of four years in prison if the judge determines that he did, in fact, violate his probation. He was released on his own recognizance, following the hearing.

In the past year, Chris Brown has been involved in a fight with Young Money rapper Drake at a nightclub in New York City, (though no one was hit with any criminal charges). He has been been in another fight with fellow singer Frank Ocean; been accused of assaulting a woman (though that was disputed by witnesses and security footage); and been accused of falsifying records concerning his court-ordered community service.

He’s gotten into disputes with neighbors over graffiti artwork outside his home, and was involved in a heated, profanity-filled exchange via Twitter with comedienne Jenny Johnson.

The hit-and-run incident occurred in May, with the woman involved claiming that Brown refused to provide his license after his Range Rover SUV struck her Mercedes Benz. Brown also reportedly provided false insurance information. The alleged victim claimed Brown was belligerent and hostile after she tried to take a photo of him.
