Tyler Perry will face another lawsuit  over intellectual property. According to reports, Perry was sued on April 25 by screenwriter, William James. The lawsuit was filed in an Indiana U.S. District Court.

James claims that Perry stole the idea for the movie Temptation from his 2009 screenplay, Lovers Kill. James’ screenplay revolves around a married couple who faces a dilemma after the wife falls for another man. For those who are unfamiliar with Temptation, the story features a marriage that is ruined by the wife’s infidelity.

It’s a basic storyline that has been explored in literature and film for hundreds of years.

But James also claims that he gave his screenplay to an associate of Oprah Winfrey with the hopes of it getting into the hands of Perry.  James hopes to receive residuals from the film and wants his name in the opening and closing credits.

Perry has faced a lawsuit for stealing material before. He was sued for stealing the plot for the film Good Deeds in 2012.

Share your thoughts. Do you think Perry is a thief when it comes to ideas for his films, or will the lawsuit not be upheld in court?
