Hip-Hop Manager Chris Lighty Passes Away

 

Chris Lighty Of Violator Dead 

A famed Hip-Hop manager died today (Thursday, Aug.30) after decades in the music business. Chris Lighty of Violator Management has been confirmed dead although details are still skimpy about his passing. The Hip Hop empresario helped manage the careers of Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Missy Elliott, LL Cool J, Nas and 50 Cent. News of his passing started circulating online Wednesday afternoon after several of his close friends began tweeting messages about his passing. “Devastated to hear about the loss of Chris Lighty. My prayers & thoughts are with his family,” wrote Hip Hop writer Karen Civil. “I just confirmed that super mgr  @clighty Chris Lighty one of my biggest mentors in the entertainment business has in fact passed. Sooo sad,” wrote Amber Noble-Garland of IForTalent management.

Writer Toure and several others have confirmed that Lighty’s death was due to a self inflicted gunshot wound.
