Details have emerged surrounding Nick Cannon’s “Emancipation of Mimi.” Now that the “America’s Got Talent” host has officially filed for a divorce from the iconic singer, certain specifics regarding financials, confidentiality clauses and more are coming to light.
According to TMZ, Carey and Cannon have a prenup with a confidentiality clause.
“If Nick violates the confidentiality clause he has to pay her a $250,000 penalty, but if she spills the beans she has to pay him $500,000,” TMZ reports.
This was made clear in the prenup, which also notes that Carey came into the marriage with $150 million, while Cannon who entered the marriage seven years ago, had less than $500,000 to his name.
Although Cannon has made some major moves since then, making millions on various projects, when they first got engaged, he purchased an engagement ring for $500,000 but took a loan out for $470,000. The ring was reportedly worth $2.5 million.
In August 2013, Cannon confirmed there was “trouble in paradise,” and he and Carey were “living in separate houses.” The couple who married in 2008, have two beautiful children, 3-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
