A 10-year-old female rapper named Watoto From The Nile has taken Lil Wayne to task for his lyrics about drug use, crime and disrespect of black women.
“This message is to Mr. Wayne, but I must complain about what you do an[d] what you say. I’m sorry I feel this way. And I’m a girl that’s only 10, but for my sisters I must represent. How old are you? I know you’re 20-something. Excuse me for the interruption.
“I guess that means that you’re a man, but there’s something I don’t understand. The way you talk, the way you act. I hate when you be doing that.
“And people say ‘No to drugs, but tell me who should I trust?’ You or them. Are you promoting something? It’s time our people stop the fronting.
“Single, a lack of single. You lack knowledge, inspiration and now you’re single. And then you start cursing, They make it even worse when they play it with the radio version.
“This song is disturbing,.Please, Mr. Wayne, can you stop all the hurting?”
Lil Wayne should take heed to Watoto From The Nile’s words. Although he’s a gifted artist, Lil Wayne could do more for the black community and his young fans if he chose to rap more about the issues facing our youth instead of promoting a destructive lifestyle. –amir shaw
